June 5, 2009-- Ever catch a cold from somebody breathing the same air on a passenger jet? Well, that's what NASA wants to avoid in the even closer quarters of Space Shuttle. Starting on Saturday, the Endeavour astronauts go into quarantine prior to next week's launch. Getting sick in space has its upside, I suppose. When the Apollo 7 crew caught colds in 1968, they took Sudafed tablets for relief. Astronaut Wally Schirra later became a TV pitchman for the cold remedy.
