FL Gov. Race Heats Up, With More Than A Year Until Primary

May 15, 2009 -- We're off to a very early start in the race for who will be Florida's next governor. With the primary election still more than a year away, there are reports that state Attorney General Bill McCollum will formally announce his intentions to seek the office on Monday when he's in Orlando. This comes on the heels of Democratic Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink declaring her intentions to run -- a day after Gov. Charlie Crist announced he would go for the U.S. Senate seat Mel Martinez is vacating next year. 90.7's David Pitman visited University of Central Florida Political Science Professor Aubrey Jewett, and asked him if he was surprised to see Sink throw her hat in the ring so soon.
