April 29, 2009— Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas and Senator Bill Nelson have successfully pushed for a budget resolution to delete the 2010 deadline for the end of the Space Shuttle program. The catch is, the resolution is only a recommendation, and no money has been appropriated in Congress for any extra missions. Also, even supporters of the program say the victory doesn’t mean more missions than the eight NASA has its schedule. There’s the possibility of one extra unscheduled flight to carry the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer to the International Space Station.
