UCF Economic Forecast -- Florida Poised For Significant Growth

(July 2, 2008) -- A new economic forecast for Florida says despite the current troubles the state is facing, with the slumping house market, higher fuel prices, and rising unemployment, Florida is still in a position to nearly triple its gross state product over the next 30 years, with Orlando helping to lead the way. But Sean Snaith, the director for the Institute for Economic Competitiveness at the University of Central Florida also says what happens decades from now depends on whether the state can enact economic policies that will prevent short-term troubles from becoming long-term ones. 90.7's David Pitman called Snaith for an explanation, and Snaith says it pretty much boils down to tax policies.
