Barrettwerks and choreographer Ellie Potts Barrett

We'll talk with choreographer Ellie Potts Barrett about her next production, Barrettwerks. This weekend of concert dance features original choreography by Barrett, Voci Modern Dance Company, and Lucas Crandall from the internationally-known Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. The choreography ranges from classical to contemporary, and from comedic to dramatic. For Opal, choreographed by Barrett, was inspired by the true story of Opal Petty, who, at the age of 16, was involuntarily committed to the Austin State Hospital in 1934 by her parents, and remained there for almost four decades. Voci will present a selection of choreography from their fall production of A Collaborative StandThe performances will be April 25 and 26 at 8, and April 27 at 2, at the Johnny Holloway Theatre at Harwood Watson Dance Studio
