UCF Examines 5 Years of War, Announces Chair of Kurdish Political Studies (March 20, 2008) -- The University of Central Florida today is making the fifth anniversary of the U.S.-lead invasion of Iraq with a public forum to discuss the effects of the war on the Middle East. As we first reported last week, UCF is beginning a new focus on a part of Iraq that doesn't get as much attention as the more violent regions in and around Baghdad. The university announced it's creating an endowed chair in Kurdish political studies. 90.7's David Pitman sat down with UCF political science professor Dr. Roger Handberg, who explained that Kurdistan is a decades-old region that grew out of a failed attempted to create another country.
