Monday, 12/10 THE TINSELTOWN FOLLIES, a Holiday Cabaret, is at Theatre Downtown tonight and tomorrow night at 8 it features performers from New Orleans who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina and are now living here in Central Florida and performing together again for the 1st time. COLLECTOR'S CHOICE III - AUDACITY IN ART just opened at the Orlando Museum of Art the contemporary art exhibit was curated by Sue Scott with works from more than 20 local collections. SANCTUARY an Anna Tomczak Retrospective also opened recently at the Museum of Florida Art in DeLand. Tuesday, 12/11 There’s a reception tonight at the COMMA Gallery for the Holiday exhibit ADORED ARTISTS IV. The invitational exhibit runs through January 4 There’s a String Concert tonight at 7:30 at Valencia Community College’s East Campus. And this Friday night, Valencia’s Opera-Theatre Workshop presents THE RHYTHM OF LIFE, -- also on the East Campus with scenes from opera and musical theatre, including La Traviata, Die Fledermaus, Guys and Dolls, and Into the Woods The Harrison School for the Arts Orchestra have been invited to perform at a conference in Chicago next week a Preview of that Concert is tonight at 7:30 at Lakeland school And also in Lakeland tonight is a Holiday concert by the Imperial Symphony they are joined by the Lakeland Choral Society and the Lake Wales Chorale
Wednesday, 12/12 A holiday show with JOSE FELICIANO is tonight at 8 at the King Center in Melbourne www.kingcenter.com A touring production of the musical GYPSY will be at the Lakeland Center tonight at 7:30, and tomorrow night at 8 at the King Center There’s a new opera company based in Mount Dora and its first production is HANSEL & GRETEL. Performances are at the IceHouse Theatre - tommorow night at at 7:30, Friday at 8 and next Wednesday & Friday, December 19th and 21st and There’s a Meet the Artist Reception Thursday night from 6 to 8 at the Steinway Piano Gallery in Altamonte Springs. Friday, 12/14 Orlando Ballet presents The Nutcracker this weekend and again Dec. 20-23 at the Bob Carr, with live music by the Orlando Philharmonic. Performances are tonight at 7:30, Saturday at 2 and 7:30 and Sunday at 2 there’s also a Nutcracker Brunch at 11:30. Titusville Playhouse’s presents a dramatic version of The Nutcracker this weekend at the Emma Parrish Theatre The Daytona International Festival presents the SKAGGS FAMILY CHRISTMAS featuring Ricky Skaggs, Kentucky Thunder & The Whites Friday night at 7:30 at the Peabody Auditorium and poet Carol Ann Davis will give a reading Saturday night at 7 at the Atlantic Center for the Arts.
