In Depth: Central Florida's Crime Crisis. Daytona Beach Tackles Rise in Property Crime

December 6, 2007 -- Over the last several weeks, 90.7 WMFE has focused on the rise in violent crime, paying particular attention to what's being done to fight crime in Orlando and across Orange County. But in Daytona Beach, police are dealing with a spike in a different type of crime. 90.7's David Pitman sat down with Police Chief Michael Chitwood, who said while the city hasn't seen the increase in violent crime that Orlando has, it is experiencing a big jump in residential and business burglaries along with car thefts.
