St. Rep. Dean Cannon on Property Tax Reform Several times over the past few weeks, our business commentator Dr. Hank Fishkind has spoken out against the reform plan that comes up for a vote in January. The plan would, among other things, double the homestead exemption and allow homeowners take some of their current tax breaks with them when they move what's commonly referred to as "portability". We thought it was time to give supporters of the plan a chance to speak as well. 90.7's David Pitman sat down with Republican State Representative Dean Cannon. They started off by talking about a recent Orlando Sentinel poll that found 56 percent in favor of the plan, which is a bit short of the 60 percent needed to pass to make it into the state constitution. Representative Cannon says he's not surprised that 22 percent are still undecided.
