Monday, 11/12

This is the final week to see THE Smithsonian’s ART OF THE STAMP exhibit at the Orange County Regional History Center - it closes Sunday

The University of Florida Concert Choir is on tour and will perform tonight at 7:30 at Morrison United Methodist Church in Leesburg

There’s also a Choral Concert tomorrow night at Valencia Community College’s East Campus

And several performances this week by UCF music ensembles

An Electro-acoustic concert Wednesday night at 8; PeaceWorks with the UCF Choirs on Thursday that’s at 1st United Methodist Church in Orlando the Jazz Ensemble performs Friday night and Saturday, the UCF Symphony is at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Oviedo for a concert called SOUNDS OF THE ORIENT with violinist Ayako Yonetani

Tuesday, 11/13

There’s an Artist Reception tonight for FOTOFEST……THE BEST PHOTOGRAPHY MONEY CAN BUY it’s from 6:30-9 at the COMMA Gallery in Orlando.

Poets will be featured in a program tonight from 6:30-9:30 at Infusion Tea in College Park, including the current Kerouac writer-in-residence, Emily Nemens. She will also give a Farewell Reading Saturday night at the Kerouac House.

Guitarist Stephen Robinson will give a recital tonight at 7:30 at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke in downtown Orlando

A series of films by Abbas Kiarostami are being shown each Wednesday at the Southeast Museum of Photography at Daytona Beach Community College. Tonight’s film is Life and Nothing More....and it starts at 7

And Independent films are shown regularly at The Enzian Theatre in Maitland -- currently showing is the documentary MY KID COULD PAINT THAT


Wednesday, 11/14

MAD COW Theatre brings romance to the Holidays with a production of the musical, SHE LOVES ME there’s a Special Preview Performance tonight at 7:30 and the show opens tomorrow. It continues Thursdays thru Sundays until December 23rd

3 MO’ DIVAS are at the King Center in Melbourne tonight at 8 and tomorrow night, the BALLET FOLKLORICO DE MEXICO will perform

and tomorrow night is 3rd Thursday in downtown Orlando, with art shows at several galleries, including Orlando City Hall with its TOOLS AS ART exhibit, the Gallery at Avalon Island where Edson Campos and Kathleen Brodeur have a show, and at the Office Gallery and Art Studio at 47 E. Robinson, which is a benefit for the Coalition for the Homeless


Thursday, 11/15

Learn about contemporary dance tonight at a Dance Showcase and Discussion at the Center for Contemporary Dance in Winter Park -- it’s from 8 to 9:30

The DBCC Jazz Ensemble will give a concert tonight at 7:30 in the Theatre Center

Irving Berlin’s WHITE CHRISTMAS opens at Seaside Music Theatre

The Lake Wales Chorale presents John Rutter’s Mass for the Children, tonight and tomorrow night at First Presbyterian of Lake Wales.

There’s an Opening Reception tonight for the Fine Art Faculty Show at Valencia Community College

There’s also a reception tonight for the FACULTY HOLIDAY EXHIBIT at Crealde School of Art Creade’s 8th Annual Holiday Sale is Saturday & Sunday

You can enjoy 2 outdoor art festivals this weekend - the 41st Osceola Art Festival in Historic Downtown Kissimmee and the 15th DeLand Fall Festival of the Arts both run is Saturday and Sunday

Orlando Opera will open its doors Saturday for an open house from 10am to 4pm at the Dr. Philips Center on North Orange Avenue. The free Behind The Scenes event features performances and demonstrations

and what might be the first holiday music event of the season is this Sunday - Seminole Community College will host a Messiah Sing-Along, Sunday at 3 and you’re invited to sing or to just to listen.
