Monday, 10/8 The Orlando Philharmonic Focus Series concert is tonight at 7 at the Lowndes Shakespeare Center it’s called the Mozart Family Tour.
Also tonight is the CD Launch Party for the newest recording by jazz pianist Alex Clements it’s at 7:30 at The White House that’s Benoit Glazer’s home concert series at 2000 South Summerlin. and tomorrow night at 7:30, you can hear a new group formed by the popular Sovereign Brass this is a larger ensemble called Sovereign Brass Union and it will perform a concert of heroic music at the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe
Tuesday, 10/9 The monthly Opening Reception at the Comma Gallery is tonight from 6:30-9 the latest exhibit is called COLLAGE, CONSTRUCTIONS AND COLLABORATIONS and features installations and new works in 2D and 3D mixed media. Some of the artists are Henry Sinn, Grady Kimsey, and the Mud Flap Girls
An Emerging Arts Leader Creative Conversation will take place tomorrow night at 7:30 at Taste in College Park it’s an initiative by United Arts of Central Florida, and the Orlando Young Nonprofit Proffesionals Network to discuss issues in the arts community Creative Conversation is a national program sponsored by Americans for the Arts www.UnitedArts.cc www.ynpn.org
and SHYLOCK opens tomorrow night at the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre it’s a 1-man show that explores Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice through the eyes of its controversial character, Shylock.
Wednesday, 10/10 The Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra begins its 3rd season this week with concerts tomorrow night in Mount Dora and Friday in Montverde. the Lake County orchestra is conducted by Michael Garasi
Renowned Latino Poet Martin Espada will give a reading tomorrow night at 7 at the UCF Student Union. Espada is known as "The Pablo Neruda of North American Authors", and is the author of fourteen books
And DEFENDING THE CAVEMAN returns to The Plaza Theatre this weekend performances are tomorrow at 3pm & 7:30, Friday at 2pm and 8:30 and Saturday at 5 and 8:30
Thursday, 10/11 The Emperor’s New Clothes opens this weekend at Orlando Repertory Theatre. Also opening this weekend is GI Jukebox at Melbourne Civic Theatre http://www.mymct.com/ There are a number of concerts this weekend, including one by the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble. That’s the opening concert tomorrow night at 8, of the Bach Festival Society’s Visiting Artist Series. The ensemble will also perform as part of the Fred Rogers Family Series, Saturday morning at 11
There is also a Bach Festival Society in Polk County and they have a professional chamber choir that is giving a series of concerts this weekend. It features a capella music from many periods - performances are tomorrow night at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Winter Haven, Saturday night at the Lake Wales Arts Center, this Sunday at All Saints' Episcopal in Lakeland and Sunday, November 3rd at Bartow Academy
Friday, 10/12 The WINTER PARK AUTUMN ARTS FESTIVAL is Saturday & Sunday in downtown Winter Park
The Central Florida Chamber Winds will give a concert on Sunday at 3 at St. Mark's Church in Indialantic.
