OC School Board To Review Enforcement of "30-30" Rule

September 13, 2007 -- The Orange County School Board meets today to look at possible changes in how campuses carry out the so-called "30-30 Rule". The rule keeps students indoors during intense thunder and lightning storms until 30 minutes after the last thunder is heard. The measure created consternation at Ocoee Elementary and Middle schools late last month, when many parents say they weren't able to take their kids home until more than four hours after dismissal time. 90.7's David Pitman spoke with Orange County Schools Chief Operating Officer Dr. Nick Gleddich, who said this was the first time anyone could remember the "30-30 Rule" kicking in right at the end of a school day.
