UK Forecasters Issue Storm Predictions for US Atlantic Hurricane Season

June 25, 2007 -- Scientists in the United Kingdom are, for the first time, telling the United States what it might expect in the way of tropical storms for the rest of this year's hurricane season. The UK Meteorological Office is predicting ten more named storms this year, compared to the fifteen that American forecasters are expecting. 90.7's David Pitman asked the Met Office's Tropical Prediction Scientist Julian Heming why he and his colleagues are interested in forecasting storms for the U.S.
