Florida's University System Reviews Procedures Following VT massacre

April 18, 2007 -- The head of the state university system and Governor Charlie Crist are talking about improving warning systems on the campuses of universities across Florida. Chancellor Mark Rosenberg says Florida's universities have warning systems but they are targeted more at alerting students of pending disasters - such as hurricanes - rather than an immediate danger. Officials hope to get some last-minute help to improve security at the state's 11 public universities before lawmakers wrap up their regular session in May. Meanwhile, the University of Central Florida is reviewing its own policies and procedures to make sure every base is covered in case something like what happened at Virginia Tech happens here. 90.7's David Pitman talked about that with UCF spokesperson Tom Evelyn.
