Arts Connection for November 3-4, 2006 Previews of events this week - Voci Dance at City Arts Factory, productions at Orlando Theatre Project and Seaside Music Theatre, the 2nd Orlando Puppet Festival and the DeLand Original Music Festival. Click here to listen to Part 1 Voci Modern Dance will be the first arts group to perform in the new theatre space at CityArts Factory in downtown Orlando. Out of the Box is a collaborative event featuring dance, visual art and performance poetry. Special guest is Seattle poet Christa Bell, the 3rd ranked performance poet in the country. Performances are Friday & Saturday, 11/3-4 at 7:30 and Sunday, 11/5 at 1:30; the audience is invited to enjoy cocktails and a live painting demonstration a half-hour before the performance. Click here to listen to Part 2 Seaside Music Theatre has begun their Winter Season which includes 3 productions. The first, George Bernard Shaw's Arms and the Man, closes this Sunday. Then opening Thursday, November 9 is a brand new musical show, Million Dollar Quartet, re-creating the recording session on December 4, 1956, with Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. SMT performs at the News Journel Center in Daytona Beach. The 2nd Orlando Puppet Festival opened Wednesday, with 5 days and 19 shows and films at Mad Cow Theatre and the Orlando Public Library. It features a series of live puppet shows for adults as well as a Family Series. There’s also workshops, demonstrations, Puppet Potpourri, an open-mic event with impromptu performances by the guest artists and audience members, and closing the festival Sunday night with Puppets from the Edge avant garde pieces in the style of a slam. It's Saturday, Nov. 4 from 1pm to 2am, with 18 stages throughout downtown DeLand.
