Mother Faces Child Neglect Charges After Baby Left in Hot Car

July 30th, 2014 | WMFE, Orlando- A woman who left her 2 month old daughter in a hot car is facing child neglect charges.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office says the woman was taking her 9-year-old son to a pediatrician in Avalon Lake, and after about an hour realized she had left her daughter in the car.

Staff at the clinic said the baby was crying and had a temperature of 101.6 degrees.

They tried to cool her down with wet towels.

The baby was taken to Nemours where her condition was described as stable.

The OCSO has filed Child Neglect charges with the State Attorney’s Office against the mother.

So far this year two children have died after being left inside hot cars in Florida.

The Department of Children and Families has an awareness campaign called ‘Look before you lock’.
