Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings says the man opened fire on deputies as a package was being delivered to a house on Hawford Circle in Belle Isle.

Demings told reporters the subject- identified as 29 year old Harrison Carter- pointed a gun a the agents, who identified themselves as law enforcement.

“They had items on that identified them as Orange County deputy sheriffs. In addition the vehicles that they were in when they went to take down the individuals, there were blue lights on those vehicles at the time.

The sheriff's office says one of the deputies fired at Carter after he pointed a gun at them.

Carter fired 'several rounds' at the deputies, then barricaded himself in the house.

Streets around the house were cordoned off and a swat team and negotiators were called in.

After about an hour trying to make contact with Carter they entered the house and discovered his body.
