SpaceX plans to launch six communications satellites on its Falcon 9 rocket.

The California-based company is eager to expand its launch capability on the Space Coast.

SpaceX recently signed a 20-year lease of an old shuttle launch pad at Kennedy Space Center.

It also is considering a launch complex in the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge.

Eventually SpaceX hopes to ferry astronauts to the International Space Station as NASA focuses on sending astronauts to an asteroid and Mars.
