Update: Car Jacking Ruled Out in Apopka Incident


May 5th, 2014 | WMFE, Orlando- The Orange County Sheriff's office says an incident in Apopka overnight in which a man was pistol whipped and robbed is no longer being treated as a car jacking.

33 year old James 'Brandon' Holcomb allegedly robbed and pistol whipped a man, then drove away with a woman the victim had been talking to.

Orange County Deputies chased the car, which crashed after a short pursuit.

Deputies were fired on as they approached the car.

Holcomb was found dead of an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. 

Sheriff's deputies say the incident was initially treated as a possible carjacking, but the woman is an acqaintance of Holcomb and left with him willingly.
