Officials at the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) say 28-year-old Robert Corchado hit another car with his Dodge Durango.  That car, a Toyota Solara, went through the daycare facility, injuring 15 people, mostly children. Over 50 children were at the facility at the time of the crash.

One child later died at Arnold Palmer hospital.

Corchado left the scene of the crash, and abandoned his car. FHP believe Corchado rented a black Mazda SUV, Florida license plate number CHRQ41. They're asking anyone who spots this car to call 407-737-2300.  There is a warrant out for his arrest.

Corchado has a history of arrests, including one as recent as December 2013 for possession of heroine and cocaine. Arrest records show a hit in run in that incident, but do not indicate that he was actually charged with a hit and run. He was released on more than $10,000 bond and pleaded not guilty.

Florida Highway Patrol will hold a press conference this afternoon to discuss the updates.
