This weekend, the Orange County Convention Center hosts MegaCon, a three-day event for science-fiction, fantasy, and comic book fans.

The popular convention brings tens of thousands of self-proclaimed "nerds" to Central Florida. And one local dance troupe is ready to receive that target audience and perform its specialty, "nerdy burlesque."

The group is called Skill Focus: Burlesque. (The name contains a reference to the role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons.) During their original performances, dancers dress up – and strip down – in the guises of beloved comic book and sci-fi characters, in an adults-only combination of classic burlesque and nerd culture. And it's growing in popularity.

This week, the troupe’s artistic director Tara Rewis tells 90.7’s Nicole Creston about the art of "nerdy burlesque."
