Health Fair Brings Needed Services to the Community 03-13-14 WMFE|Orlando. A full spectrum of free health screenings is expected to draw hundreds to Harvest Time International in Sanford this Saturday. It's Hispanic Health Initiatives' annual health fair. The fair is designed to bring much needed services out into the community. The flyer for the health fair promises to have it all- food, music, games, prizes and critical health screenings. The annual health fair- which is presented by Hispanic Health Initiatives- has always included basic health screenings for things like cholesterol, diabetes and blood pressure. But Hispanic Health Initiatives Executive Director Josephine Mercado says there are also more advanced screenings. “For instance, we have a complete kidney screen through the Kidney Foundation, they will be providing urinalysis, blood tests, doctors are going to come and explain the results to the people that go through that screening,” she says. Mammograms will also be available. People are encouraged to call ahead for kidney screen and mammogram appointments, but all screenings at the health fair are free. The Health Fair is this Saturday from 10 to 3 at Harvest Time International in Sanford. |
