Update: Boy Charged in Lake Mary High School Hoax February 22, 2014 | WMFE, Orlando - A 12 year old boy is in custody after what authorities say was a hoax call to report a shooting at Lake Mary High on Friday. The boy, a middle school student- allegedly called 911 Friday afternoon using a fictitious name and reported there had been a shooting at Lake Mary High School. He said he was calling from a bathroom at the High School. The Seminole County sheriff's office Tweeted that students were evacuated as a precaution. The Tweet went on to say that there was no indication of a shooter or injuries. Shortly after 12:30 p.m. Friday, Lake Mary High School's Facebook page issued an update, saying "Lake Mary High School currently under a Code Red. More details to follow." The Sheriff's Office says it used 'investigative techniques' to locate the boy and link him to the hoax call. He's been charged with a misuse of 911 and disruption of an educational institution. Both are misdemeanor offenses. The 12-year-old will remain in custody at the Juvenile Detention Center until a hearing with a Juvenile Judge on Monday at 1:30 p.m. |
