Nearly 150 people came to hear a panel of healthcare experts talk about the Affordable Care Act, what elements are working well and what needs tweaking. Shepherd’s Hope President and CEO Marni Stahlman says she attended because her agency provides healthcare to the uninsured.

“I think I was heartened to hear that the panel for the most part agreed in the sustainability of the affordable care act, and the fact that we have to move past the fact that it is the law, and we need to embrace what that means, and come together as a community and a country to try to solve some of those problems,” she says.

Panelists included Families USA’s Ron Pollack, Orlando Health’s Wayne Jenkins and Florida Blue’s Jason Altmire. Pollock says Medicaid expansion is a no-brainer for Florida and he says he believes that it will eventually happen.
