January 22, 2014 | WMFE- Excitement at Lake Eola park today as advocates for clean water gathered to rally for better water conservation.

Environmental groups at the rally included the Sierra Club and Friends of the Wekiva.

Democratic Representative Linda Stewart of Orlando called for a bipartisan approach to water conservation.

“We must strive for this united front, one that is bipartisan," said Stewart,

"It doesn’t matter what your party registration is, it matters how we deal with this and what we’re going to do for the future of the state of Florida”

Supporters also heard from Republican Senator David Simmons of Altamonte Springs. The Orlando rally was one of 16 across the state today calling for cleaner water.

In February representatives from 16 Florida cities will travel to Tallahassee to push for amendments in the state’s water policy. With these changes they hope water conservation may soon be a problem of the past.
