Floridians Born Puerto Rico Celebrate Three Kings with Music January 7, 2013 | WMFE--To thousands of Puerto Ricans in Central Florida, this is the season of aguinaldos. These folk songs are musical gifts. From Christmastime through January's Three Kings festivities, late-night carolers show up at homes to wake residents with songs and celebration. Wilmer Gonzalez is a Puerto Rico native who plays music at Iglesia Cristiana de Kissimmee. With the help of singer and guitarist Luis Torres, he demonstrates the aguinaldos in a conversation with 90.7’s Amy Kiley. Gonzalez starts by explaining the origin of their accompaniments known as “seis.” |
