January 7, 2014 | WMFE--The James Beard Foundation will announce its 2014 award semifinalists in Orlando next month. The East End Market will host the live event on February 19 when the foundation will name 20 nominees for each Restaurant and Chef Award category. Winning a James Beard Award puts restaurants and chefs on the map. Orlando has yet to produce a victor, but Restaurant Critic Scott Joseph says the location of the unveiling makes the city itself a winner. He tells 90.7's Amy Kiley it raises Orlando's culinary profile. It also produces an added treat: the area's top chefs teaming up for a celebratory dinner.
