Meals On Wheels Volunteers Discover Seniors Without Heat  Meals on Wheels Etc. says along with meals, it is handing out blankets and space heaters to some of the Seminole county seniors they serve. Executive Director Sherry Fincher says some seniors asked for with the cold weather help, others were discovered living without heat during home visits. “They either just don’t have the proper heating in the home, or they just can’t afford to pay for the electric and sometimes it’s cut off,” she says. Fincher says more than a dozen Seminole county seniors have received blankets or space heaters to help get them through the current cold snap. The Orange-Seminole county Health Department warns our current temperatures are low enough to cause hypothermia. |
