New Report Ranks 40 of the Best and Worst Counties to Vote in Florida

December 9th, 2013 | WMFE- Central Florida counties are among the best and worst places to vote, according to a new report by The Center for American Progress Action Fund.

The report focused on the 40 most populated counties in Florida.

Among the worst counties to vote in were Orange and Volusia. Orange County was ranked the 12th worst, and Volusia 8th worst.

Seminole, Brevard and Osceola counties were among the best.

Joshua Field is the director of the Center’s legal progress program.

He says their report is merely the first step in starting a dialogue on how to improve voting in Florida.

“We aren’t making policy recommendations. We thought that this was an interesting opportunity to take a deeper look on a statistical side and then leave it up to the people on the ground that have a better sense of what’s working to start having these conversations,” says Field.

The report examines several factors, like voter registration rates, voter turnout, waiting time and provisional and absentee ballots.

The Center describes itself as an independent and nonpartisan advocacy organization.
