SpaceX Mission to Try Again Thursday

November 26th, 2013 | WMFE- SpaceX will make another attempt to launch a rocket carrying a commercial satellite Thursday, after scrubbing the launch monday night. After lifting off from Cape Canaveral, the Falcon 9 rocket will carry the telecommunications satellite into what's known as a geostationary transfer orbit, thousands of miles above the earth.

After scrubbing the launch Monday night, SpaceX founder Elon Musk wrote on his twitter feed: "Saw pressure fluctuations on Falcon boost stage liquid oxygen tank. Want to be super careful, so pushing launch to Thurs."

Space X describes the mission as the company's most challenging to date. 

Once it’s in orbit, the SES 8 satellite will provide telecommunications coverage for South Asia and the Asia Pacific region.

The Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft have been used to ferry cargo to and from the International space station.

Late last month engineers from NASA met with SpaceX to review safety of the rocket and spacecraft.

NASA says the company is on track in developing the spacecraft to eventually carry astronauts to the space station.
