Orlando Regional Medical Center Receives New Stroke Designation Central Florida stroke patients now have new treatment options available to them. The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration has designated Orlando Regional Medical Center as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. Stroke Services Director Daniel Jacobs says the new designation means the hospital can use more advanced procedures that can help save lives and lessen disability “This is an exciting day for us, we’ve been looking forward to this day for years and we’re just delighted that we’ve gotten the designation and can start,” he says. The new designation will also benefit stroke patients at Orlando Health’s four community hospitals. A stroke occurs every 40-seconds in the United States and is the fourth leading cause of death. Jacobs says anyone who experiences sudden weakness in an arm or leg or loss of vision should be concerned about stroke and should seek immediate medical attention. |
