Sebelius Visits Orlando to Announce New Health Insurance Exchange Resource U-S Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is downplaying privacy concerns raised by Florida Governor Rick Scott over the rollout of the Affordable Care Act. Sebelius was in Orlando promoting a partnership with CVS Caremark pharmacies that will give people another way to learn about the Affordable Care Act and the online insurance exchanges due to open October 1st.
[U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius one of the health insurance marketplace displays that will be in CVS Caremark stores] Just a few days ago the Florida Department of Health said it would not be working with navigators- people tasked with helping consumers understand the online health insurance exhanges- because of privacy concerns. The Health department is updating its statement by saying that it hasn’t received any written requests from Navigators requiring space in local health departments- but Secretary of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius says the state’s position on privacy concerns is a disservice to Florida. "There was at one point a suggestion by the governor that people would be collecting personal health information. Absolutely untrue- there is not point in the application process that anyone will be giving personal health information," says Sebelius. Governor Rick Scott and Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi have said they're concerned about whether the navigators pose a privacy risk. |
