Governor Touts Tax Cut Plan in Central Florida

September 12, 2013 | WMFE - Gov. Rick Scott will make a stop at Orlando's Valencia College Friday as he continues a statewide tour to promote a plan to cut taxes and fees in the next fiscal year by $500 million. Scott addressed some of the state's top political leaders Thursday at an Orlando summit organized by the Sayfie Review, an online publication.

He credited cuts to taxes and regulations for economic gains the state has made since 2010.

At a press conference afterward Scott was asked whether his tax cut plan was part of a re-election campaign – and whether he was ready to announce.

"What I'm doing is exactly what I ran on – seven steps to 700,000 jobs. The focus is, how do we make sure everybody has the opportunity for a job? How do we make sure this is the best state where you can get an education? How do we take care of our citizens?"

Scott faces re-election next year.
