Orlando Democrat Announces Run for Florida CFO

August 16th, 2013 | The first new 2014 candidate for state Chief Financial Officer announced his run Thursday - and he's from Central Florida.

Orlando Democrat Allie Braswell announced his intent to challenge current CFO Jeff Atwater in next year's election.

The fifty-one-year-old Braswell is president of the Central Florida Urban League and previously worked for Disney. He also served 13 years in the US Marine Corps.

In a statement released late Thursday, Florida Democratic Party Chair Allison Tant expressed excitement over the announcement, saying that Braswell will return the focus of Florida’s CFO to the middle class.
