Osceola school district families that qualify for free and reduced lunch should make an effort to apply online- because if you do- reduced lunch becomes free lunch.  Osceola school district public information officer Dana Schafer says you can find the free and reduced lunch application under the Back to School section of the district’s website.

“You click on that, fill it out, the confidential, personal information is completely secure, and a great part of the feature is the parents can track the progress of their application,” says Schafer.

Schafer says families that apply online only have to fill out one application for the entire household.  Breakfast, however, is free for all Osceola county students.  That’s a program that was started last spring and is being continued this fall. Schafer says the school district is serving breakfast as a way to boost student achievement.  Both programs are being paid for with existing funds within the school nutrition services department.
