Rubio Talks with Orlando Business Leaders About Health Care Reform

July 19th, 2013 | WMFE - Senator Marco Rubio is urging congressional members to defund the Obama administration's Affordable Care Act in a short-term budget that comes up for a vote in September. Rubio visited Gatorland Friday to talk with local business leaders about their concerns for the health care reforms.

The roundtable discussion included representatives from the Gatorland and Fun Spot attractions, along with the owners of janitorial and financial services.

They worried the Affordable Care Act -- often called Obamacare -- will swell their health care costs, forcing them to cut hours, benefits and jobs.

Rubio told them the vote in September on the short-term budget is a last chance to stop the Affordable Care Act.

"Anyone who votes for that short-term budget is voting to pay for this disaster that you're describing."

Rubio said the reforms especially will hurt businesses in the tourism industry, as families are left with less vacation money.

The possible presidential contender addressed the health care reforms a day after President Obama spoke on the issue at the White House.
