July 17th, 2013 | WMFE - Civil rights leaders are calling for the United States Department of Justice to bring civil rights charges against George Zimmerman, who was found not guilty Saturday of second degree murder and manslaughter for shooting unarmed Black teenager Trayvon Martin. After the verdict, defense attorney Mark O'Mara said the trial wasn't about race. To talk more about the role of race in George Zimmerman's trial and what's next for the case, 90.7's Matthew Peddie spoke to UCF associate Professor of Criminal Justice Kareem Jordan.
