June 18th, 2013 | WMFE- One month after the hotly contested 2000 US presidential election, the Florida Supreme Court ordered a statewide manual recount of votes. Just one day later the US Supreme Court overturned that decision, ensuring the election of republican George W Bush as the 43rd president of the United States, and ending the presidential hopes of his rival, Vice President Al Gore.
