Update: Voice Expert Testifies Voice Crying for Help Isn't Zimmerman's

June 7, 2013 | WMFE - A voice expert testified Friday the cries for help in the background of a 911 call aren't George Zimmerman's. Tom Owen of Owen Forensic Services testified about a 911 call a witness made just before the former Neighborhood Watch volunteer shot and killed Trayvon Martin.

Owen said he couldn't determine whether those cries are Martin's. But he could rule out Zimmerman.

"The screams don't match at all. So that's what tells me OK, it's not George Zimmerman."

Owen testified during a hearing to decide whether expert testimony on the 911 call and another non-emergency call Zimmerman made should be allowed at trial.

Already an FBI voice expert testified it was impossible for his office to determine whether the cries are Martin's or Zimmerman's.

Zimmerman's defense contends the conflicting testimony will confuse jurors and should be thrown out.

Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder. He says he shot Martin in self-defense. Jury selection begins Monday.
