Businesses React to Waterford Lakes Bomb Scare

April 23, 2013 | WMFE - The north end of Waterford Lakes in East Orlando was shut down this morning as sheriff's deputies investigated a series of suspicious packages. Two-dozen businesses were closed, and more than 100 people evacuated including children from a day care center and apartment residents during the scare.

Ben Esquilin of Vito's Pizza and Pasta said deputies went door-to-door evacuating businesses of the massive east Orlando retail center.

"Things that are going on in Boston, you know, everyone's at edge right now. So I'm glad the sheriff's department is doing their job."

Orange County sheriff's deputies including the bomb squad examined four suspicious devices but found them to be safe.

The sheriff said the packages don't appear to be related. One was a bag of tools.

But deputies encouraged the public to call in about anything suspicious.
