March 6, 2013 | WMFE- It's been a year since neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman shot and killed the unarmed teen, Trayvon Martin. That shooting thrust "stand your ground" to the center of attention, and prompted Governor Rick Scott to appoint a task force to re-examine the law. This week on Intersection, 90.7's Matthew Peddie talked with Florida Senate Minority Leader Chris Smith, a Democrat from Fort Lauderdale. Smith formed his own task force on "stand your ground" after the Trayvon Martin shooting. Senator Smith says the statute has been used more often since that shooting.
