FAMU Details Anti-Hazing Program

January 24, 2013 | WMFE- Florida A and M University says it's taking steps to tackle hazing, in the wake of drum major Robert Champion's death.

FAMU detailed its anti hazing program in a 27 page submission to the state university system Board of Governors Wednesday.

The university says it's revised its anti hazing regulations and established several new positions including a music department compliance officer, a director of judicial affairs and a special assistant to the president who will liaise with the school's external anti hazing committee.

FAMU’s department of public safety will also ensure reports of  alleged criminal activity are reported to the office of Judicial Affairs by the next business day.

Other measures include a website where students can report incidents of hazing.

The board of governors issued a preliminary report last December concluding FAMU’s anti hazing program failed to comply with either state university regulations or Florida law. The board says it will consider FAMU’s response before it submits a final report.
