City of Orlando Begins Search for Citrus Bowl Construction Management

January 2, 2012 | WMFE - The City of Orlando has announced the search is on for a construction company to help manage the downtown stadium's upgrade.

The call went out Wednesday that the City of Orlando is opening up the bidding for “program manager services” for the Citrus Bowl. That means the city is looking for a construction firm to help oversee the project’s planning, designing and re-building.

Officials say they’re accepting proposals from qualified companies until January 16th, and they’ll announce their selection the first week of February.

The Citrus Bowl is the last of the three Community Venues projects, a partnership between the City of Orlando and Orange County governments and other investors that built the Amway Center in 2010 and is currently working on the Doctor Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

The Citrus Bowl renovation is expected to begin late this year and to be finished by January 2015. Its cost is estimated at $175 million.
