Brush Fire Evacuates Homes and Temporarily Closes SR 417

November 22, 2012 | WMFE- A roughly 50 acre brush fire partially shut down part of the 417 in both directions around Hunters Creek this afternoon. The road is now reopened, but expect low visibility in the area around Hunters Creek and I-drive.

Around 30 homes were evacuated by Orange county Sherriff’s personnel along Alavista drive.

Orange County Fire officials and Florida Division of Forestry crews have contained the fire.

No homes have been damaged and no has been injured.

The first emergency calls regarding the flames campe in around one o'clock this afternoon.

An Orange County Fire Department spokesman said winds were moving smoke and flames in a generally southerly direction.
