Mitt Romney Makes Campaign Stop in Sanford on Final Florida Swing

Nov 5, 2012 | WMFE - Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney stumped for support Monday morning in the Sunshine State. Romney spoke to an enthusiastic crowd of supporters in Sanford as part of his last push through swing states.

Hundreds of people gathered in an airplane hangar at Orlando-Sanford International Airport for Mitt Romney’s last Florida stop. Jobs, the economy, and healthcare were common topics in Romney’s speech, and common concerns for supporters who attended the rally. Jean Reagin owns two small businesses in Sanford. She believes she’d be more likely to get the small business loans that could rescue her from the brink of layoffs under a Romney presidency.

“I think he knows business and he’s educated enough to understand the issues that we face, and I’m looking forward to someone that actually appreciates that I built my own business. I didn’t ask the government to support me,” says Reagin. “All I’m saying is give me a fair chance.”

Florida Republicans including U.S. Senate candidate Congressman Connie Mack, Governor Rick Scott, and former Governor Jeb Bush appeared with Romney before he departed for stops in Virginia, New Hampshire and Ohio.

Also Monday, First Lady Michelle Obama spoke at a “Get Out the Vote” rally in Orlando, along with Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, Florida Democratic U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, and pop star Ricky Martin.
