New Quinnipiac Poll Shows Obama with a Slim Lead in Florida  October 31, 2012 | WMFE - A poll released this morning shows President Barack Obama with a very slim lead over GOP challenger Mitt Romney in Florida. The same poll shows Democratic U.S. Senator Bill Nelson opening a wide lead over his Republican opponent Congressman Connie Mack IV. The Quinnipiac University/ New York Times/ CBS News poll shows President Obama with a one point lead in Florida over Republican Governor Mitt Romney. That’s well within the poll’s three-point margin of error making the presidential race a virtual tie in Florida six days before the election. President Obama now has 48 percent support in the poll to Gov. Romney’s 47 percent. The results show a steep decline in support for the president in Florida since the last Quinnipiac Poll in late September. That poll, taken prior to the series of candidate debates, had the president ahead by nine points. In Florida’s US Senate race, the poll shows Democratic incumbent Senator Bill Nelson leading his Republican challenger Congressman Connie Mack IV by a margin of 52 to 39 percent. Quinnipiac surveyed 1,073 likely Florida voters over the past week. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 points. |
