New State Law Hailed as a "Lifesaver" for Stalking Victims


October 04, 2012 | WMFE - A new state law in effect as of Monday is being called an important breakthrough for potential victims of stalking and domestic violence. Victim's advocates say the new law is long overdue although it took effect too late for several recent victims.

After a six month downward trend in central Florida, there was a dramatic and tragic spike in the past week with six deaths and three serious injuries attributed by law enforcement to domestic violence.

Carol Wick is executive director of Harbor House, Orange County's domestic-violence shelter.
