The Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development visited Orlando Tuesday. In addition to speaking at a housing conference HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan also grabbed some face-time with Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer as 90.7s Mark Simpson reports.

Secretary Donovan was in town promoting home refinancing and other Obama administration measures to ward off foreclosures.

But with Orlando’s Mayor, Donovan said the top agenda item was improving housing around the new Sunrail Commuter Line stops:  “Making sure that we are building the kinds of neighborhoods around those stops that all residents of this region want, that are going to keep this economy growing, keep the region growing, that’s something that is number one on my agenda with him.”

The HUD Secretary noted involvement with a dozen of Sunrail’s 17 stops.

Some of the rail line’s stops will feature new housing developments close by, but others will be more of a “kiss and ride” design.
