Today is Deadline for Registering to Vote in August Primary


July 16, 2012 | WMFE - Florida law requires all voters be registered at least 29 days before an election. That means today is the deadline for Florida residents to register to vote in the upcoming state primary election.


Florida'sprimary for federal, state and local elections is scheduled for Aug. 14th.

Orange County Supervisor of Elections Bill Cowles says today’s deadline is only for voters registering in Florida for the first time or those wishing to change party affiliation.

“Otherwise, if you are a registered voter in the state of Florida, you can update your voter record such as updating your name or address, up to and including Election Day at the polls.” Cowles said.

Eligible voters must be 18 years or older, a U.S. citizen and a Florida resident.
