Nelson Up in Fundraising, Down in Poll

July 12, 2012 | WMFE - Democratic US Sen. Bill Nelson's campaign reports it had a very successful fundraising period, bringing in $1.8 million dollars in contributions during the second quarter of the year.

Senator Nelson now has nearly $11 million dollars in his campaign account. But a new public opinion poll shows the incumbent losing ground to his most likely Republican challenger, Congressman Connie Mack IV of Southwest Florida.

Representaive Mack has not released his second quarter numbers yet but he finished the first quarter with around $1.3 million in his campaign account.

Meanwhile, a new poll from Rasmussen Reports shows Congressman Mack pulling ahead of incumbent Senator Nelson. Results from the conservative-leaning Rasmussen poll shows Mack with 46% of the vote to Nelson’s 37%. Seven percent prefer another candidate, and 10% say they are undecided.
